Scalable Video Switch Available This Saturday

Arthrimus will be listing the first batch of Scalable Video Switch’s (SVS), this Saturday at 3PM NYC-time.  The SVS is designed to be anything you’d like it:  Buy a $40 control module, with up to 32 inputs and 6 outputs (around $30 each).  You can have all different signal types too, but please note that there’s no conversion, only passthrough of signals.  Said differently, you can’t input RGB and output YPbPr…at least at this time.  It’s worth noting that RetroTINK 4K users can get a VGA output module and route all signals directly through the RT4K’s VGA port.  This VGA connection also includes serial control, for a fully automated experience!  More details after the link:

There’s so much to discuss about these switches, that it can’t really be done in a basic post.  Luckily, My Life In Gaming will be preparing a detailed video, that should be released in a few weeks.  Also, the next batch of SVS’ should be here around April, so if you’re waiting to see a deep-dive before buying, you’ll have another chance soon.

If you’d like a demo of how the auto-switching will work, please check out this post, which includes some quick demo videos:  https://www.retrorgb.com/retrotink-4k-firmware-v1-6-9-released.html

Some notes from Arthrimus:

  • You will need to purchase 1 Control Module with your order.
  • You will need to purchase at least 1 Input and 1 Output module in order to build a functioning switch.
  • The Scalable Video Switch in it’s launch configuration only supports up to 32 inputs and up to 6 outputs. Do not try to add more than those limits, you will have problems.
  • The remote control is optional, but nice to have if you want to manually switch inputs without having to physically touch the switch.
  • Quantities will be limited for the first run so I am limiting each customer to 1 Control Module. This is to ensure that as many people get a chance to buy as possible and reduces the risk of scalping.
