Doom 32x Resurrection release 3.3a adds features found in Doom CD32X Fusion

Victor Luchitz has announced on X the release of Doom 32X Resurrection version 3.3a, featuring a range of enhancements inherited from the Fusion version of the engine.

  • High-resolution weapon sprites
  • Unified colour palette
  • Per-episode intermission screens
  • Composite textures
  • A sound cue that plays upon discovering secret areas
  • Low-detail mode for flats
  • A revamped status bar
  • Corrected movement speeds for the Cacodemon, Baron, and BFG projectiles
  • Memory optimizations

The memory optimizations and composite textures, together with a new compressed map format, freed up 1 MB of ROM space compared to the previous release. As with previous releases, the ROM is not region-locked and supports both PAL and NTSC formats. You can also run this rom on most ROM carts, including the Open Everdrive – You’ll just need to reset to save your game, then power cycle, as the restart after reset won’t work right for this game – No big deal. Other Everdrives should work fine, with no extra interaction required.
