Tito from Macho Nacho Productions recently released a video showcasing a new kit from NintendreMods that eases the process of hacking a Nintendo DS into a DMG-like shell. You can 3D print the case (or have it made at PCBWay) and then follow the instructions in Tito’s video to get it all together. While this is by no means an “easy” mod, it’s certainly easier than hand-wiring each component together!
I’m a fan of stuff like this, but it’s obviously for a specific scenario. Most people would prefer getting an Analogue Pocket for GBA and having access to tons more cores/games…but there are still a ton of people out there who would enjoy a project like this one. Plus, I’ve always loved the feel of a DMG, so if that’s the handheld experience you’re looking for – and you’re a modder who could handle the project – then this might be a fun one to tackle.
