ColecoVision DRAM to SRAM Upgrade

Lundy Electronics is selling a $50 DRAM to SRAM conversion upgrade for Colecovision and Coleco ADAM consoles.  This is handy for anyone who’s DRAM has gone bad, as there aren’t any new replacements available.  Apparently, it’s common for people to mis-diagnose a power supply issue as a RAM failure…but Lundy Electronics is also selling a $24 adapter that allows you to simply connect a Meanwell GP25A13A-R1B with no modding necessary.  That might be a good start, as all power supplies will eventually fail anyway.

I love to see components released that help keep original consoles alive as long as possible and with many of these older components long out of production, projects like this are even more important.  Also, the upcoming Lumacode mod should breathe some new life into consoles like the Colecovision, as they add the ability to output HDMI via an external adapter such as the OSSC.  You can even use DAC’s to generate an RGB or component video signal from the output, making it excellent for anyone wanting the sharpest picture from their Coleco consoles.

…of course, if you’re using a CRT, simply using RF or performing a composite video mod will output in a great experience.  Lundy Electronics sells a composite mod as well!
