Retro FPS Shootout: Unreal vs Halo

The original Unreal is a fascinating single-player shooter which shares a striking amount of similarities to a certain Xbox shooter which would change the genre forever. Which one comes out on top today? And did the original Halo really change shooters for the better? All this and more, as we take a critical look at two classic FPS games and their impacts on the industry.

In true RetroRGB spirit, both games have been captured at period-accurate resolutions: Halo at the original Xbox’s native 640×480 and Unreal at a slightly higher 800×600 to simulate a high-end, state-of-the-art PC of its day, albeit with a much smoother framerate.
