Modern Vintage Gamer just posted an overview of Nintendo’s cartridge security chips, referred to as CIC chips (Checking Integrated Circuit). It’s a brief, but informative summary of how the security works, as well as the steps that the homebrew community went through to crack it.
I often take for granted that I’m old enough to remember “being there” for most of these homebrew accomplishments, so I’m always appreciative when someone like MVG comes along and posts a great little summary like this. Please check out the video below!
