Tito from Macho Nacho Productions recently posted a video about the Sharp X1 – A predecessor to the Sharp x68000 PC that could also play PC Engine HU Card games. Tito cleaned it up and installed a Gotek floppy disk emulator, as well as demo’d PCE functionality…and a licensed copy of Super Mario Bros. That’s right, the SMB from the NES! Here’s affiliate links to what he discussed with some (spoiler!) thoughts below:

This was a really interesting video for me, as I never knew this computer existed. It was basically a PC, that included a “PCE on a board” (like with the Laser Active), essentially being two machines in one case. I enjoyed taking a look at the internals, as well as seeing how it worked…
…but the highlight of the video for me was how terrible the official SMB port was! From a technical standpoint, it was cool to see a game running on low-powered PC’s of the time, but it also really highlighted how good of a job Nintendo did with the NES’ hardware. While I think most people on this website would enjoy the whole video, that and the “keyboard reassembly” shot at the 13min mark were my favorite parts of the video…what a cool edit!
