RetroGEM HDMI Mod Adds 3DO Support

PixelFX have just announced that 3DO versions of their RetroGEM HDMI kit are now available to purchase.  It’s compatible with all 3DO’s, except ones with the Anvil chip, which is found in late (1995) FZ-10 and Goldstar GDO-202 consoles.  The price is the same as most of the other options: $120 for the software-locked “basic” edition and it’s $190 for a version that unlocks all the features.  There’s an installation video below the links:

Deciding between this and an RGB mod is pretty straightforward:  Do you mostly game on RGB monitors, or consumer CRT’s with component video inputs?  Do you already have a scaler with analog inputs that you don’t plan on upgrading?  Then stick with the RGB mod that’s still available.

But if you plan on connecting it directly to an HDMI display or scaler, this HDMI mod makes more sense.  If that was the case, I’d personally go for the cheaper version and eventually save up for a 4K scaler, rather than spend the extra $70 on the software unlock, but that’s gotta be up to you.
