3DO RGB Boards – Final RGS Sale

While Adam from Retro Gamer Stuff is sadly still closing the store, he recently found leftover stock of the awesome 3DO RGB kits.  These include the RGB board itself, as well as a flex cable that will help make the installation a bit less tricky.  If you’re unfamiliar, this boards add RGB to all 3DO’s that don’t use the Anvil chip, while retaining Composite and S-Video.  They also can be a #nocutmod by mounting the output MiniDIN in place of the RF jack.  And they even include a switch that can force a 240p mode on all outputs, not just the added RGB-out.  If you only need analog video output and not HDMI, this is the mod to get!  More info and a video below the link:

Some notes:  First, while the 3DO outputs high quality S-Video natively, no model offered RGB-out and the signal is locked to 480i on all but one Japanese model.  Upgrading to RGB is definitely noticeable, but the ability to output in 240p is equally as big of an upgrade with some games.  A few like Wolfenstein might have issues with 240p and some FMV games might actually look better in 480i…but with this kit, you have a switch that can easily toggle between both.

Also, the ANVIL chip is found in late (1995) FZ-10 and Goldstar GDO-202 consoles and due to how it works, will probably never have a video mod available for it.  It’s not so much a limitation of this mod, as it is the chip itself.  Please see the documentation for how to determine exactly which chip you have, but luckily, most 3DO’s do not use the Anvil chip.

While this video is a few years old, all the info is still relevant and it’s a great summary of what to expect out of this mod:
