PixelFX have just posted a status update and have announced another delay to the Analog Bridge. According to their post, the delay was related to a crosstalk issue, but they’ve fixed it and are waiting on samples for a final revision. They previously announced the Analog Bridge hardware was totally finished, which means the sample / production unit process will have to start over. They’re still trying their best to get it out by the end of the month, but I think realistic expectations are a bit longer. Also, the 3DO Retro GEM HDMI kit is still on schedule for this month, with the Gamecube and Wii versions to start production after the 3DO’s are released. It’s my strong opinion that the team’s decision to wait until the Analog Bridge is exactly how they want it before shipping to customers is the right one. While their customers are entitled to be annoyed with the year-long delay, they’d be much more annoyed if it didn’t work as expected. I also think releasing one RetroGEM at a time is the right move, as it’s really easy for any small company to get overwhelmed with multiple product releases.
We’ll post as soon as they go up for sale.
