Darthcloud, creator of the Blueretro project, has just opened pre-orders on his first official product: A Bluetooth adapter for the original Xbox called “BRX”. This will use his tried and tested software to interface controllers at a very low latency (see below) to the original Xbox. The price is about $50 and they’re due to ship to customers around October. More info after the links:

While Blueretro is compatible with a ton of controllers, I think Xbox fans might be most excited to pair the latest Series X and Elite controllers with it. So of course, Darthcloud tested the latency of those, as well as the original Xbox’s wired controller via MiSTer’s extremely accurate, Arduino-based latency tester. The original wired controller came in at 6.75ms, while the modern Xbox wireless controllers had around 16ms. It’s my opinion that 10ms of added controller latency on an original Xbox is perfectly reasonable and won’t be noticed at all by almost all gamers.
If you’d like a bit lower latency with all the features of a modern controller, you could (GASP!) connect a Dual Shock PS5 controller, which would add just under 4ms of latency to the original – Which in the context of a human using a controller should be considered “zero”. While this blasphemous combination of PlayStation controller on an original Xbox is technically faster, I think almost all gamers would just stick with the newer Xbox controllers.
Darthcloud has tons of information on his Github page that shows other controller options and their latency as well: https://github.com/darthcloud
