After nine updates, a Bahamut Lagoon fan translation project—led by notable emulation developer Near, with a script by prolific translator Tom—has finally reached v1.0 status on the 25th anniversary of the game’s original release date. Although the initial beta release was stable, feature complete, and playable to completion, the seven week open beta gave the developers and users time to rout out a handful of lingering bugs and script/translation errors so it is recommended that all users update their ROMs with the latest patch. In addition to the .bps patch file, the source code for the patch has also been released to the community so that developers can publish translations in whatever language they want while taking advantage of the many improvements implemented by Near.
