After a lengthy absence, Fixel (aka, Felix)—the developer behind the FreeDO emulator and the 3DO ODE project—released a statement last Sunday that outlined the current status of a variety of projects they’ve been taking pre-orders for.
To summarize: Fixel still plans to release everything he has announced up to this point but, because of the significant delays he has experienced across these product lines, he is issuing a blanket refund for every single unshipped pre-order. This includes the DigitalAV HDMI mods, the Phøde universal ODE, and the DMC88 FMTowns Marty ODE pre-orders that opened last year. Interested customers will have the option to opt out of this blanket refund and keep their orders, but the Google form for this process has not been sent out as of this article’s publication. Once Fixel tends to some significant health issues and redesigns their website, they will be releasing more information about these products and their projected shipping dates.
For more information directly from Fixel, head over to the announcement page they put up and join the 3DO Community Discord to interact with him directly. Bob also conducted an interview with Fixel a little over a year ago that explores some of their projects in more detail.
