Developer PizzaRollsRoyce has just added link cable support to Elevate Speed: An awesome homebrew racer for the Virtual Boy. While the game is still a 1-track beta, adding link player support means gameplay shifts from experiencing the tracks and computer opponents, to beating your friend. Which is awesome. I haven’t had time to try this new version with two VB’s, but I embedded a video below of when I first tried the game, so you can get a sense of how it looks.

While at first glance this might seem like a minor update, I definitely think it’s worth posting about. Link cable support was never added to a retail title and is something that can only be experienced through homebrew software and homebrew cables. This game is not only fun, but provides a really unique experience that any Virtual Boy fan should be curious about.
