Krikzz Announces Turbo Everdrive Core

I had to check my calendar to make sure it wasn’t Groundhog Day, because Krikzz just announced another Core model Everdrive—this time for the PC Engine/TurboGrafx line of consoles. If you followed their announcement last week of a Mega Everdrive Core, this post is going to sound very similar because the concept is pretty much the same: Take the highest end Everdrive, remove its ODE functionality, and sell it for half the price.

An infographic detailing the functional differences between several models of Turbo Everdrive.

For those of you unfamiliar with Everdrives or their developer—Krikzz—Everdrives are a brand of flash cart; a piece of hardware that allows cartridge-based video game consoles to run user defined software from an SD or MicroSD card. Everdrives are often offered in multiple variations per console, giving consumers a choice of both price and feature set.

The Turbo Everdrive Core is available now on Krikzz’s storefront for $99USD and should arrive at other distributors soon. No reviews currently exist for it, but the impression I get is that you should be able to watch just about any review of the Turbo Everdrive Pro and skip the parts that discuss its ODE functionality.
