Krikzz has just released a new firmware for the Mega Everdrive Pro that adds new features, but requires a more extensive installation process than usual. Also, your Sega CD / Mega CD RAM cart files may need to be converted, however they will not be lost in the update process. Lastly, the Firmware update format has changed to a date-based format. Installation instructions can be found below the links:

Updating To the New Efu Firmware
Before doing anything else, you’ll need to first update the firmware to the previous v4.20. This is done simply by extracting the zip file found in the same link above to the root of the MicroSD and overwriting the folder (back up the folder first if you prefer). Then, boot the cartridge and you should see this message:
Then hit A to start the upgrade and wait for the cart to finish and automatically reboot. If you see the following screen, the update was completed successfully.
Now, (or if you’re already running version 4.20), copy the latest .efu file to the root of the MEDPro. Then power on your console and “run” the .efu file as if it were a game by selecting it and hitting A. It’ll bring up a menu with an option to install the firmware – Hit A again to do it:
Make sure not to power off your console as the firmware updates:
After it’s done, you’ll get the same “settings have been reset” screen shown above that you saw after the last firmware update. If you’d like, enter the Device Info menu to double check you’re on the latest firmware:
Real Time Clock Calibration
Krikzz also included the ability to calibrate the built-in Real-Time Clock (RTC), to improve its accuracy. I’ll admit, I don’t know why this is necessary, but maybe someone smarter than me can explain it? Or maybe this is one of those times I just forgot and it’ll eventually pop into my old man brain in a “Oh yeah dumbass!” moment. I didn’t perform this myself, but here’s some instructions based on Krikzz’ PDF:
If you’d like to calibrate your RTC, start by downloading the zip package: https://krikzz.com/pub/support/mega-everdrive/pro-series/rtc-calibration.zip
Then, make sure your PC’s clock is calibrated. The PC clock must be synchronized with an error of no more than 0.1s. Windows users can perform clock synchronization using
menu Adjust date and time->Additional settings->Sync now. Please note that windows synchronization may not work if your system clock deviation is already less than a second, in this case you need to change system time manually and then push Sync now again. Use https://time.is/ to make sure that yours system time is accurate.
Then, connect your MEDPro to your PC via the USB port on top and and run “1_start_cal.bat” from the zip file. Do this right after setting your system clock, as it will drift over time. After it’s done, disconnect the cartridge from USB. Then wait 10-20 hours (more is better), then run Windows time sync again.
Now re-connect your MEDPro via USB and run 2_end_cal.bat. At this point calibration is complete.
A properly calibrated RTC deviates around 5sec per, month if battery voltage and ambient temperature is stable.
Here’s the full list of changes since the last update:
- Mega-CD ram cart size reduced to 128K for better compatibility*
- Fixed saves for CD-core
- Extended themes support**
- Firmware version naming changed. Now version reflects release date
- Minor menu makeup
- Included support for eeprom 24c04 and 24×02
- Megacolor player fixes
- RTC calibration support***
*Only 128K ram cart was officially released by Sega, by this reason some games does not work well
with bigger cram carts. If you have saves on virtual ram cart, then copy it to internal cd ram before firmware update.
Old ram cart save files will not be lost, but they will be invisible for new firmware.
**More flexible themes configuration. Use megatheme-1.0.0.2 to make new themes.
