Ced’s currently working on a way to restore these backups, making it a great way to transfer saves. Until then, it still might be useful for people who want to back up their Saturn save’s to their computer, or to use with emulation. There’s even an handy tool available for Saturn save edits: https://github.com/hitomi2500/ss-save-parser
I hope to see this feature implemented in more ODE’s and it’s already something that can be done with the Satiatior (both save and restore is available on the Satiator). Check out my review for more info on the Fenrir:
