Voultar recently released a custom installation board for the PSIO that simplifies its installation; The original install had a chip that sits in the center of the motherboard, with wires in all directions and nothing to anchor the chip. Voultar’s board slides over pins on the motherboard, making it slightly easier to install, as well as anchored in place.
It also includes a pad that allows you to install a Multimode 3/Mayumi V4 mod chip for people who want to use original discs from other regions.

You can download the design for free, or have your own made from OSHPark: https://oshpark.com/shared_projects/Zi53kA47
To order parts for the blank board, just follow the chart contained in the zip:
Also, it looks like a few people have tested the installation and it seems to work fine:
Just installed @Voultar's SIO-X switch board for PSIO with integrated MM3 chip. Works like a charm. This is much nicer than the stock switchboard install. pic.twitter.com/sX2ySx4Ebd
