Zophar’s Retro Rewind: Episode 2

Zophar recently posted the second video in his “Retro Rewind” series, this time focusing on some of the origins of speedrunning.  It was an incredible look at the creative workarounds emulation-focused gamers found to “record” their speedruns using the Nesticle emulator.  There was also talk of a potential tool-assisted speedrun using those hacked Nesticle files.  This was a really fun episode that’s a must-watch for fans of speedruns, or just old gamers like me who remember when this stuff was happening 🙂

I’ve really been enjoying these videos and hope Zophar keeps making them.  They’re both a blast from the past and a pretty cool insight into the history of a lot of the things that are commonplace today.

If you’d like to hear more about Zophar’s history, as well as the true RetroRGB origin story (The Emulatorium!), please check out the interview we did awhile back.  It’s also available on every podcast service – Just search for favorite app for “RetroRGB Zophar”:
