I recently came across something called The 16-Bit Audiophile Project, which is dedicated to archiving and preserving game soundtracks in the highest quality possible. Through the use of professional recording equipment, they’re able to get high resolution, extremely accurate recordings straight from the original hardware.
They post their own releases, but also allow for community submissions as long as it meets their strict requirements. Some of the team members also appear to be on the MDFourier team and they even sight the test software in their guidelines!
You can download their releases in 24 bit 96KHz FLAC, CD quality FLAC, and in MP3s if you prefer it. They also have a Youtube Channel, Twitter and Facebook page for the Project as well where you can keep up with any new releases that come out.
