Scalable Video Switch Batch #3 Pre-Orders

Arthrimus will be opening pre-orders on the third batch of Scalable Video Switch’s (SVS), this Saturday the 26th at 7PM NYC-time.  This batch will offer the second revision of VGA input modules as well.  In order to compensate for constantly-changing import costs, this pre-order will require a $10 non-refundable deposit for each module that you are planning to order. Once the batch of modules arrive from the factory you will receive a follow up invoice for the remaining balance.  An estimate of total price will be given, but once again the total cost you’ll owe won’t be fully-calculated until Arthrimus himself knows what they’ll cost and you’ll only be charged $10 per module at this time to reserve your hardware and help fund the build.  More info below the links, including expected delivery times:

To be clear:  This is NOT an “extra” $10 per module, you’re simply paying $10 towards each module, which will be deducted from the total price.  And since Arthrimus himself doesn’t know what the total price will be, there’s no way to calculate that until they’re in-hand and ready to ship.  So this is his way of trying to save you the most amount of money as possible, as the alternative would just be to jack up the prices and hope he didn’t charge too much.  Heck, I’d probably charge the full amount, with a “shipping/import” fee to be billed later, but that’s his decision and he’s trying to make this as painless as possible.

It’s my very strong opinion that companies need to do whatever they can to stay afloat and stuff like this doesn’t bother me at all…as long as it’s from an established company.  While I wouldn’t be comfortable sending $10 per module to a brand new company with no history, Arthrimus has successfully completed two previous batches of SVS’ with no issue and has a good history of selling other products as well.  And yes, it’ll suck for anyone who runs into hard times between the pre-order and final bill, but this is required to help fund the build and I’m okay with it.

When you’ll get yours will depend on when your order is placed, as this pre-order round will be made in batches based on how many orders he can fulfill per month.  You’ll be notified of which batch you’re in via email after your order is placed.  The fulfillment should proceed as follows.

Batch 1: June/July
Batch 2: July/August
Batch 3: August/September
Batch 4: September/October

Once he receives enough orders to fill all four batches he’ll end pre-orders. If all four batches aren’t filled, pre-orders will end on May 3rd at 7PM NYC-time.  If all of the pre-order slots are filled then he’ll either do another round, or just have enough to keep in stock by the time they start shipping later this year.  So, a bit complicated at first, but it makes sense…and just remember to check your confirmation email to see which batch you’re in.
