QMTech SDRAM FPGA, IO Board & Case Setup

I recently posted a video building a MiSTerFPGA setup using only QMTech components. This means building a setup using a QMTech DE10 Nano alternative with builtin SDRAM, a QMTech IO Board and the QMTech case. The entire setup set me back around $160 so it’s a great deal considering a DE10-Nano alone costs $225. Unfortunately the demand for DE10 Nano alternatives have been very high so it’s been difficult obtaining these devices. You’ll have to periodically check the availability on the purchase pages.

TapTo

The TapTo product is currently working on launching games from CD-ROM’s. This means that with an attached disc drive, you can insert a CD-ROM from your physical collection, and the MiSTer FPGA will launch the appropriate game. This will also work with CD-ROMs that you burn yourself, so you can create your own collection of CD-ROM’s.

Discord Game Challenge

The next game challenge on MiSTerFPGA Discord is Ridge Racer Type 4 for the Playstation. It is a time trial challenge on 4 different stages. The challenge goes until October 27th and you submit your score on the MiSTer FPGA Discord.

The AmigaVision project is adding a new category to its game listing. This category is dedicated to the Amiga Arcadia System. This was arcade hardware that was based on the Commodore Amiga. If you want to see the history of this hardware, then check out the video by RMC The Cave.

Micro MT32Pi

Antonio Villena is doing an interest check for a Micro MT32-pi that has no screen or buttons. An MT32-pi will allow you to play upgraded music on cores that support it. Even with the missing buttons, all functions are still supported through the MiSTer on-screen display.

Ranny Snice Wallpapers

Ranny Snice released two new wallpapers for the MISTerFPGA. One wallpaper is based on on Double Dragon II for the arcade. The second is based on Shadow Dancer for the Mega Drive. You can download these wallpapers when you enable Ranny Snice’s wallpapers in the update all script.

MIDI Core Correction

Last week I posted about an update to the Genesis MIDI core. The update was actually about a different custom MIDI core by ModalModule. Called UltimaChip Tracker this core has features like being able to use both the Gameboy and Genesis sound chips at the same time.

X-Men (Konami Arcade) Beta Core

Jotego released a beta for the Konami’s X-Men arcade game. This is a side scrolling beat-em up, and depending on the cabinet, can support up to 6 players. As with all betas from Jotego, they are only available for Patreon subscribers but as soon as they are stable, they are released for free to the public.
