Dan Wood from the Retro Hour Podcast just reviewed the Warp 1260 Accelerator Board from CS-Labs. This is an accelerator card meant for the Amiga 1200 that completely transforms the machine into a substantially more powerful Amiga. As well as add modern solutions, features, and abilities a stock Amiga 1200 owner could never dream of. Versions for the Amiga 500 and 4000/3000 models are also in the works. Dan Wood breaks down the features, potential uses, as well as test the beta kit he received in the video review. The Warp 1260 has the following technical breakdown and features:
- MC68060 CPU
- 256MB DDR3 RAM
- RTG Graphics – up to 1920×1080 resolution 32bit color and Digital Video output
- 16bit Audio Codec
- on-board FastIDE interface
- 400MHz ARM co-processor
- USB Host Ports
- WiFi module
- microSD card slot
- on-board fast ROM with slots up to four Kickstart versions and burst access
- on-board connector for optional flicker-fixer module (in development)
CS-Labs has stated that they will be able to supply some 68060 processors but supplies will be limited and potential users of the Warp 1260 will have to source their own processor chips. The initial price point for the Amiga Warp is slated to be €499 without the processor. Please check out Dan’s video review to see this device in action and support his work.
