Previously Unreleased Mega Drive Shooter P-47

A previously unreleased Mega Drive conversion of the 1988, side-scrolling shooter arcade game P-47 is now coming to the console.  This conversion has a new game system, weapons, stages and bosses.  The background music was also re-done for the Mega Drive’s audio chips and it appears to come with some extras as well as the CIB game.  It’s scheduled to ship on March 13th and the price is ¥8,800, which is currently about $60 (not including shipping).  There’s links to multiple sellers, including Amazon.jp.

While I always love “new-retro” releases, I always have the same concerns:  Are the cartridges made properly, running at the correct voltage, with beveled edges.  Hopefully someone will pick one of these up to review.  Also, it looks like there’s only a Mega Drive version, so if you’d like to play this, you’ll need a way to play Japanese Mega Drive 60Hz games.

Gematsu has more information on the history of the game here if you’re interested (it was originally planned for release in 1990) and shoutout to Beast for passing this one along!:  https://www.gematsu.com/2024/12/p-47-ii-md-for-mega-drive-launches-march-13-2025-in-japan

If you speak Japanese, there’s a full livestream reveal here:
