DotEmu has just announced that their sequel to the original Neo Geo game Windjammers will finally see a release on January 20th, 2022 – That’s just over three years late from their expected release date of late 2018. The game will launch on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Game Pass & Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Stadia.
The development team spoke to PlayStation Blog about the delays and it seems like it was worth the wait: The team ended up disassembling the code from the original Windjammers game in order to truly capture the feel of the original, then added their own new content. The goal was to make the game feel like a true sequel, while taking advantage of modern 16:9 screen for bigger courts and more options. Overall, it seems like this was worth the wait! I’ll be buying the Switch version and hopefully the online gameplay will work well enough to have some fun battles with friends!
#Windjammers2 will open its jammin' courts on PC, all consoles (via backward compatibility), and Game Pass on Jan 20, with:
🌟 Amazing characters
🕹️ Sick gameplay mechanics
💪 Incredible stages
🎶 Rad soundtrack
🥏 Frisbee love
