Vincent Teoh, the mastermind behind the HDTV Test YouTube channel, has just posted both a written (below) and video (above) guide on how to diagnose and fix potential HDR issues with the Switch 2. This is a really important find, as if the settings are off, some games will look fine and others will look either washed out, or too dark.
While this is a bit more work then we should be dealing with, at least there’s an easy fix. I’m not sure if this is something Nintendo can fix in a future firmware update, but at least the info is out there!
Here’s Vincent’s written guide, as a string of social media posts. I considered posting it here for people to have an easier time following, but even though I’d be screenshotting his posts, that felt a bit too much like “stealing”, so I’d rather just link you directly to the source:
If Nintendo Switch 2's HDR in docked mode looks washed out with clipped highlights on your TV or monitor, here are some [Adjust HDR] settings that should fix it. 🧵👇(1/7) pic.twitter.com/xvQcKiZKNh
