Yoei, the maker of very high quality console replacement shells have recently opened orders on a clear version of the original PlayStation shell. The price is $89 and it’s compatible with 5500 / 7000 / 7500 / 9000 models. This shell is made of MABS instead of ABS, as MABS is more translucent and glossy, however it should feel similar. This is technically a pre-order, but they’re due to ship next week, so it won’t be a long wait. More info after the link:

I’ve always been a big fan of quality transparent replacement shells. Sadly, there’s always been poorly-made alternatives out there, including some that are so thin, I was nervous even picking up the console. Luckily, there are makers like Yoei and Retro Game Restore have always strived to make the highest quality shells possible. When I decide to add one to my console, I go out of my way to make sure I’m buying from them and not cloners.
