Retro Fighters have just launched a Kickstarter for a device that sits around your Switch 2’s dock and includes four low-latency GameCube controller ports. These connect to the original dock’s USB ports with an included cable and allow up to four wired GC controllers to be used. Each dock will also come with Included with four swappable faceplates: Spice Orange, Indigo, Jet Black, and Platinum Silver (see gif below). The price is only $32, making this a pretty cool upgrade for your existing Switch 2 dock:

Just to be clear: You place your existing Switch 2 dock inside this one – It does NOT replace the original dock. This was a very deliberate choice, as there have been many horror stories about 3rd party docks for the original Switch and Retro Fighters smartly wanted to avoid any concern. So I think they made the right choice designing a device to work with your existing official Switch 2 dock, not replace it.
Also, in the past year, Retro Fighters have made a lot of effort to have the lowest latency products possible. So while I don’t believe they’ve released lag numbers yet, I can’t imagine it would be much different than the current best GC to USB adapters out there. There’s no way to tell for sure until people start using it, but after personally testing their Brawler64 and getting 3.3ms of latency over the USB connection, my guess is this one will be great.
