3DO RetroGEM + Overclock Demo’d

Tito from Macho Nacho Productions recently uploaded a video about his PixelFX RetroGEM installation into a 3DO.  He showed the installation process, some recommended maintenance and also showed how the RetroGEM’s web interface can be used to overlock the 3DO!  Obviously do this at your own risk, as there’s clearly a reason they weren’t clocked higher from the factory – But I still think it’s a great feature.  Here’s purchase links with some thoughts below:

Watching this installation video really showed how much attention to detail was put into those flex cables and 3D printed mounting brackets.  While this installation is far from “easy”, the contents of the kit certainly make it a lot cleaner and streamlined than it could have been.  Hopefully all the internal chips were thermal tested after installation though, as the GEM mounts directly on top of one of the chips.  And of course, heat would also be a concern after overclocking.  Still, if you’re looking for a digital-to-digital A/V solution for your 3DO, this one seems awesome.

Also, if you’d like a second installation video to help guide you through the process, here’s the video Dan did at launch:
