The DE10 Nano which is the heart of the MiSTer platform has a hardware defect that causes CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) feature of televisions to malfunction, breaking support for CEC on all devices connected to the TV. One solution to this problem over the years is to use CEC disabled cables or adapters. Laser Bear Industries took the approach just a bit further with a dongle that plugs into the HDMI port on the DE10 Nano and connects to a free USB port to add CEC controls to the system.

Who is this for? If you frequently use SNAC based controller adapters you will see the most benefit, as with SNAC you are unable to access the menu for MiSTer. Pairing the CEC-Enabler with SNAC means you no longer need an extra keyboard to be by your side to change games or cores. You can just use your tv remote for that purpose.
In addition to its functionality for MiSTer Laser Bear has created a separate firmware for Kodi/Plex or most HTPC based software to add that functionality in, creating set-top box like use for it.

Compatibility with TVs is very high, but Samsung TVs can have some difficulty connecting, and may take power cycling the TV to get the connection handshake to complete.
