Kanto Ora 4 Magnetically Shielded Speakers

The speaker company Kanto has just released a more powerful version of their “Ora” line of magnetically shielded speakers.  The “Ora 4’s” output 140 watt (70w RMS), versus the previous Ora’s 100 watt (50w RMS) and a slightly lower frequency response, with a tradeoff of being about one inch larger on all sides.  The main features (USB, BT & RCA Inputs) are the same as the originals I reviewed last year and while I haven’t personally tested these, my review (below) should properly reflect the overall look and functionality.  Basically, I confirmed they were definitely safe to use with CRT’s and generally liked them;  Sometimes they felt a bit bass-heavy, but still produced a great sound.  The Ora 4’s are available in both black and white, but the original Ora’s are now also available in Grey, Pink, Purple and Red.  More info after the links:

One thing to note is Ora recommends using different stands with these.  They should work fine with just using the rubber feet they came with on a desk and if you’ve already purchased the smaller stands, they would probably work.  That said, if you like the look of Ora’s custom stands, or want them angled in a different way, you have quite a few choices:

Kanto also sells the SP26PL and SP32PL floor stands, if you’d like to put them next to your Retro Cart or retro station.  You’d probably be able to find much cheaper floor-stands though, but I wanted to list the official ones here in case you’re interested.

Please check out my review of the original Ora’s below.  I’m sure the new Ora 4’s will sound a bit different, but you should be able to at least get a sense of what to expect.  Also, if you’re unsure why you’d need magnetically shielded speakers at all, the video at the bottom explains it all:
