LG OLED’s with Automatic Low-Latency?

LG has just announced pricing and availability for their 2019 lineup of OLED TV’s.  As with every new product launch, there’s a list of new features you may or may not care about, but this time, there’s two very important notes for gamers:

They also support variable refresh rates (VRR) and automatic low-latency mode (ALLM)

These features will be found on all 2019 LG OLED’s, including the more reasonably priced ones.  While “automatic low-latency” is a feature I’d love on my TV, a much bigger concern is the actual latency number!  Hopefully, it’s lower than the 32ms found in my 2016 OLED and if you pick one up, please consider testing with the Time Sleuth and recording your results in the lag section.

Also, I’m interested to see if Variable Refresh Rate will allow for better OSSC compatibility!  Hopefully that feature will work out for retro-gamers, as well as modern.  I just wish LG would bring back support for 3D movies 🙁  I know only about 10% actually made the 3D experience worth it, but those were really worth it.  Oh well, maybe next year.  More info here:  https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2019/03/lgs-latest-greatest-oled-tvs-will-start-shipping-in-april/
